Choose an Amount – Step Four

The fourth step in the process as learn how to trade binary options is the most exciting part.  Here you are selecting the amount you would like to apply to the trade.  Again, this is a crucial step in that the risk is completely defined by you.  Here you have the power to input however much or little you would like and get a look at the potential payout BEFORE you ever place the trade.  In the Investment box, input an amount.  You will then say right below green the potential payout based on this asset’s percentage payout rate.  In the above example, you can see that for a $250 trade on the USD/JPY, an expiration on side will net you $425 that is instantly put back into your trading account.
Though it’s been stressed before, this step needs to be thought about and taken with some strategy in mind.  General rule of thumb states that you should never invest more than 15% of your total account in one position.  This allows you the possibility at continuing to trade if this particular trade expires worthless.  This is where the risk management skills come in and really test you.  It’s hard to put in a small amount, especially when it calculates the payout for you right there.  It’s hard to enter a trade for $20 that will only payout about $36 when you realize that if you were to enter more, the payout would also move up.  Again, this is where patience and timing come into play.
The last thing needed to place the trade is to click that big ‘Apply’ button.  This will bring create a pop-up screen that gives you about 4 seconds to finalize and approve the trade.  Once that 4 seconds runs out or you click Approve once more, you are officially in the trade.  Check back periodically to see the trade’s performance under the “Open Positions” tab.  You will also be notified by most brokers via email at the expiration time as to your results.
